Whether you are into traditional scenes, trendy food spots, quieter lounges or anything in between, there are tons of great bars that offer good food and better drinks. If you’re visiting or a lifelong resident, here are some of the bars you should check out during your next bar hopping session.

As far as local staples go, Vernon’s is a must-see. Located near downtown, the bar matches affordable prices, tons of Texas craft beer, and delicious food. Handmade tortillas, delicious barbeque, and great burgers make up the all day menu. The rustic scenery of the bar goes great with friends and a good game. Keep an eye out for their special pachanga, crawfish, Thursday night steak special, and more on their Facebook.

With a wide array of beers and drinks on tap, this is the place to go if you are only looking for the finest drinks. You can get any number of Texas craft brews or even branch out and try some from another state. Taking sips with friends on the patio will not be a bad idea any day of the week here.
Lou’s Saloon
One of the oldest bars around, this bar may look a little rough on the outside, but this downtown bar goes down easy. With a dive-bar aesthetic, they have a great selection of drinks that go even better with their classic barbeque menu. A true classic with an afterwork vibe to it, Lou’s Saloon is a CC staple that you should check out.

They take great pride from their menu full of unique creations and all-American classics that match well with a cocktail. This is the bar you’d go to for dinner (or sunday brunch) when you want the full course experience. It’s airy patio makes for a great hangout spot with friends any day of the week.
Cassidy’s
One of the few true Irish Pubs in the area, Cassidy’s downtown is a must if you are a fan of pubs or have some Irish in you. The beer is the specialty with tons of brews and Guiness on tap. Great service and a friendly environment, the pub will often have some live music to accompany the night. Their St. Paddy’s activities are second to none that are a must see if you have the chance.
BUS (Bar Under the Sun)
What was once an old Greyhound bus station has since become one of the trendiest bars in the city. With an all open air bar, food trucks, and games, this bar is family and dog friendly, but has a younger vibe to it. You can meet up with friends, grab some food, or show everyone your cornhole skills. BUS also has been known to host fun events like fashion shows and charity events. Check out their Facebook to get an idea of when the next event you’ll want to attend will be.
The Goldfish
Right downtown across from a huge Corpus Christi mural, The Goldfish is a newer bar with a low key vibe for those who want a quieter night. Primarily a patio bar, this is the bar to go to when the weather is great. You’ll get a delicious handcrafted drink with a view of the skyline and the white noise of the city. Featured once on CNN for being converted from an old gas station, The Goldfish a bar you’ll want to visit if you’re bar hopping downtown.
