We Love These RightOn Weekend Events

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. If you’re like me (single), you’re more excited that it lands on a Taco Tuesday and for the discount chocolates on Wednesday. Looking for things to do with your sweetie this weekend or still need to grab that perfect, romantic gift? We’ve got you covered.

FREE SLICE DAY

Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
House of Rock

It’s national pizza day, my dudes, so cruise on down to House of Rock to grab your free slice of pepperoni or cheese pizza (sorry, no pineapple). It’s dine-in only, though, but no purchase is necessary.

SIGHTSEEING TOUR/BOOZE CRUISE

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Downtown

Try this for a different type of date night this weekend: Book a downtown jaunt with Blue Pedal Lounge’s 16-passenger bicycle pub. That’s right – you’re literally boozin’ and cruisin’.  BYOBeer – or enjoy one on the pedal pub while supplies last.

DANCING WITH MYSELF ANTI V-DAY

Friday, 7 p.m.
Little Woodrows

Single and ready to be awkward around anyone you find attractive mingle? Little Woodrow’s has you covered with a little liquid courage at their anti-Valentine’s Day mixer. Hey, who said you can’t find love in a hopeless place? (Don’t read too much into that.)

LYLE LOVETT AND HIS ACOUSTIC GROUP

Friday, 8 p.m.
Selena Auditorium

I’m so Texan that Spotify recommended Lyle Lovett’s “Pants is Overrated” on my “Sensual Mix.” Yup. I don’t know what that says about me as a person. Give me back my heart, Spotify. Whatever that streaming platform thinks of me, though, the 18-time Grammy nominated, four-time winner, and Houston native hits the Selena Auditorium stage Friday night. Tickets are still available here.

CUPID’S CHASE 5K

Saturday, 8 a.m.
Water’s Edge Park

OK, so this 5K sounds a little like you’re running from that creepy baby with wings who likes to shoot arrows at you – but it’s for a good cause. This national race series helps raise funds and awareness to support housing and employment for people with disabilities. All runners, joggers, and walkers welcomed. More information here.

CITYWIDE GARAGE SALE

Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Port Aransas

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure or so the saying goes. Take a jaunt with your sweetheart out to Port A to see if you can score a great purchase while exploring the town – there are locations all over the place! Upcycle your Valentine’s Day gift or make it a date day trip: the weather looks like it’ll be sunny, if even a little crisp.

SATURDAY MARKET ROUNDUP

OK, y’all: there’s only so many ways I can say you’ve got this last weekend to pick up something to spoil your significant others before running to CVS after work on Tuesday. Don’t be that person. Whether you’re getting some sweets for your sweetie, treatin’ yo’self to some self-lovin’, or just want to support local businesses, here’s a list of markets (heart day themed or not) around the Coastal Bend:

FEBRUARY SOKOL MARKET: Saturday, 10 a.m., Sokol Corpus Christi Gym

TEXAS WINTER MARKET: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Aransas Pass Civic Center; $5 admission or $4 with non-perishable food donation (good for both days, kids 12 and under get in free)

SARITA FARMS VALENTINE MARKET: Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sarita Farms in Kingsville

ROCK N ROLL FLEA MARKET: Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., House of Rock

VALENTINE’S COOKIE CLASS

Saturday, 2 p.m.
Lazy Beach Brewing

Nothing’s changed since last week because I still royally* suck at decorating cookies (and coming up with another joke about decorating cookies). For $45, you can make decorate some sweet treats for your sweetheart and grab an alcoholic (or non-alcoholic) libation from Lazy Beach, too!

VALENTINE’S AT THE MUSEUM

Saturday, 2 p.m.
Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures

What’s Valentine’s Day like in Japan? (I mean, I think my years of anime-watching and manga-reading have already schooled me, but I won’t spoil it for y’all.) Learn how at the museum with your sweetheart – and learn how to make some heart-shaped origami.

VALENTINE’S ON THE TEXAS TEASE

Saturday, 7 p.m. and Sunday, 2 p.m.
Harrison’s Landing

Love, exciting and new / Come aboard, we’re expecting you: It’s the LOOOOOVE BOAT – er, I mean, the Texas Tease. Go on a romantic cruise of the Corpus Christi Bay with live music for $35 per person on Saturday. Or up the romance with a jazz cruise and live music by Claudia Melton for $50 per person on Sunday. Make your reservations now.

BAREFOOT MARDI GRAS KING & QUEEN CHARITY BALL

Saturday, 7 p.m.
Wyndham Corpus Christi, Padre Island

Laissez les bons temps rouler y’all at the Barefoot Mardi Gras King and Queen Charity Ball! Kick up your heels to Motif, donate to the Texas Sealife Center and the Island Foundation Seashore Schools, and raise your glasses as the new king and queen are crowned. Tickets are $35 each, and can be purchased at the Padre Island Art Gallery, American Bank on the Island and online here

DON’T GO BREAKIN’ MY HEART: IMPROV SHOW

Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Wilson Theatre, TAMUCC

Love stinks. Or does it? Head over to TAMUCC to live, laugh and love (yeah, I hate that I wrote that, too) with the Breakers Improve Ensemble at a fully improvised comedy show that uses your suggestions. The show features songs, scenes, and sketches sure to tug at your heartstrings. Grab your tickets here.
