Let’s Go Party at these RightOn Weekend Events!

C’mon, Barbies, let’s go party! Have y’all scored your ticket for ‘The Barbie Movie’? Or ‘Oppenheimer’? Or both? Personally, this Barbie has already partied too much, which is why this week’s installment is delayed. Life is, indeed, fantastic. Have so much fun this weekend in the Coastal Bend:

BAY JAMMIN CINEMA SERIES

Scoop up the kiddos for a Friday night feature at the Cole Park Anderson Amphitheater. The cinema series kicks off this Friday and runs through August 11. Audiences can expect a summer lineup filled with action, adventure and laughs. The films are family-friendly and closed-captioned. What’s showing this week? ‘Strange World.’ Follow the Bay Jammin’ Concert & Cinema Series Facebook page for the full summer lineup.

BARBIE PUB CRAWL

Friday, 7 p.m.
Downtown

OK, OK, I know: if you knew about this pub crawl, you’re already out there living your best ‘Barbie’ life in pink. I just had to mention it, at the risk of being discontinued like Midge. All you Barbies, Kens (and Allans) have a blast hopping from downtown bar to downtown bar, grabbing those fabulous, pink drink specials.

DISNEY’S HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL

Friday and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 2:30 p.m.
Harbor Playhouse

Get your head in the game – or, get your butt in a theater seat to catch a showing of Disney’s ‘High School Musical’ at the Harbor Playhouse. The fan favorite musical jumps off the screen and on to the stage. Beat the heat with the whole family with Troy, Gabriella and the whole East High crew when you snag your ticket to one of three performances this weekend.

7S BY THE SEA RUGBY TOURNAMENT

Saturday, 8:30 a.m.
Newport Pass, Mile Marker 197

Get down and rugby at the annual 7’s by the Sea beach Rugby Tournament. This year the tournament is dedicated to Art Salazar and Tom Acuna. (Full disclosure: this events writer knows little to nothing about rugby, except that it’s played on a pitch and that it looks like the more violent and less padded version of football. Don’t tell her ex boyfriend that she didn’t learn much about it, please.) After, head back in town to the Tavern for a drink-up/social.

SOUTHSIDE FARMERS’ MARKET

Saturday, 9 a.m.
5800 Everhart Road

Stock up your pantry with local fruits, veggies and more at the Corpus Christi Southside Farmers’ market. This weekly market is held rain or shine in the Market shopping center at 5800 Everhart Rd.

Yeah, we get it, it’s hot outside – and it’s perfect pool party weather. Take a dip, cool off and get ready to turn up Saturday at the Drippin’ Pool Party & We Got Next Concert, presented by 1836 Entertainment Group. Artists Drippy Dru, Grind Point, T-Ress, Blake McKay, TMP and more will take over the stage for a rap showcase and jam. This free, all age event starts at 4 p.m. with a pool party; the rap showcase hits the stage at 7 p.m. All minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Saturday, 5-7 p.m.
Funtrackers

Oh boy, I wish it were Christmas in July – if only for a respite from this summer heat. That doesn’t mean we can’t get in the holiday spirit: In The Game Funtrackers and Nate’s Next Kid bring the holidays that much closer this weekend. On Saturday, bring sports items or any toys for Coastal Bend Kids to Funtrackers. For every donation, receive one hour of free video game play (on select games). Have yourself a merry little Christmas in July at the Tiki Hut with holiday music, snow, photo ops with Santa and the Grinch, and more.

RUBBER DUCK ROUNDUP

Saturday, 5 p.m.
Water’s Edge Park

Rubber Ducky, you’re the one! (Who else has that stuck in their head now?) Round up the entire family for a day of ‘quacktivities,’ including games, bouncy houses, live music, food and drink at Water’s Edge Park. Adopt rubber duckies for a chance to win H-E-B gift cards, and visit with local vendors and non-profits.

FAMILY SUMMER ARTS & CRAFTS DAY

Saturday, 6 p.m.

Calling all music lovers: This is one night that’ll have your toes tappin’ and you singin’ the blues (in a good way) with the John Cortez Band and Left Hand Devil at House of Rock.

NATIONAL MOTH NIGHT

Saturday, 9 p.m.
Goose Island State Park

Am I the only one who imagines *that* meme when I hear the word ‘moth’ – you know the one, with the giant moth and the light that says ‘I Love Lamp’? OK, yeah, I might be a weirdo, but what’s new? Take a trip out to Goose Island State Park to discover the nocturnal pollinators that call the park home. Using various lights, attendees will attract all kinds of moths and bugs to satisfy any amateur entomologist’s hunger for knowledge about the fuzzy-legged cousin of butterflies. Learn more about National Moth Week here.

WATER STREET FARMER’S MARKET

Sunday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Kick off your Sunday Funday by supporting local vendors and restocking your pantries with fresh veggies, and more, when you head down to the only Sunday farmer’s market at Water Street Market.

COASTAL BEND WEDDING FAIR

Know a bride-to-be? Planning a wedding? Head down to the American Bank Center to find everything you need for those nuptials. From dresses to venues, catering to whatever else you need to kick off marital bliss, you’ll find it at the Coastal Bend’s largest wedding fair. General admission is $15, cash only. (As for me, I’ve been known to be a great wedding date and can really kick it up on the dance floor.)

ANGEL LIGHT PSYCHIC & HEALING FAIR

Sunday, noon
The Bay Jewel

Venus is in retrograde and it kicks off a period of multiple planetary retrogrades, so it’s time to prepare ourselves! Make like the The Fool tarot card, and take that first step: Get your chakras realigned, have your tarot cards read and pick up some spiritual items at the Angel Light Psychic and Healing Fair. Grab a drink from the cash bar, open up your third eye and raise your vibrations at this free event Sunday.
