Right On Things To Do In Corpus This Weekend

It’s a hot summer weekend in Corpus Christi and while you may be thinking of staying indoors with the A/C, let’s get out and enjoy some happenings! Check out a movie with the fam at Cole Park Friday night and come right back out to the Bay Saturday morning to help keep our beaches clean. Food? Duh! There are plenty of events with great food and drinks helping to support great causes across our city, as well. So whether you want to show off your graduated air guitar skills or take in a local play, this weekend is Right On just for you!

SWIPER, NO SWIPING

Cole Park, Friday at sunset

The Bay Jammin’ Concert & Cinema series continues every week throughout the summer with Dora & the Lost City of Gold presented Friday, July 24th after sunset at Cole Park. Be sure to bring the blankets, snacks, and drinks but most definitely do not forget your treasure maps to help Dora find her way.

 

SUPPORT LOCAL THEATER

Aurora Arts Theater, Fri/Sat and Sunday

It’s the last weekend for the run of Casa Rio, A South Texas Comedy at Aurora Arts Theater! “The misadventures of enterprising Consuelo and her pushy neighbor, Licha, provoke laughter reminiscent of the “I Love Lucy” sitcoms of yesteryear. An upcoming convention inspires Consuelo to convert her home into Casa Rio Bed & Breakfast, and she soon discovers that the pursuit of the American dream is not as easy as she thought.” Running through July 25. $20 per ticket. MCGEE BEACH BREAKFAST AND CLEANUP

Saturday 10 a.m.

Do you ever walk onto the beach and think, “someone should clean this up?” This Saturday you could help to do just that by joining many others in combing the sands for the ish that doesn’t belong. This event is hosted by CLean up Corpus Christi. The Office of René C. Flores is providing breakfast tacos while donuts ready to devour are provided by Phoenix Technology Consulting. Come out and help put the sparkle back into Corpus Christi Bay beginning at 10 a.m. July 24th at McGee Beach.

 

Hot Rods & Hot Chili

Clubhouse 7, Saturday 2 p.m.

There’s something about kick ass rides and smokin’ hot chili on a summer day in Texas. Find out if you can handle the heat during a chili cook-off and car show this Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. till 7 p.m. over at Clubhouse 7

 

LOCA FOR LOCAL

BUS, Saturday 2 p.m.

Loca for Local is a one-stop-shop featuring awesome and unique items from local businesses happening this Saturday from 2-7 p.m. at BUS. Don’t get upset with us if you leave with a full Loca for Local tote bag which are complimentary for the first 100 visitors. There’s plenty of fun activities for the littles and the puppers, so bring them along. A lot of vendors will be on-site along with a few food trucks.

 

TEAM CULTURE OPEN TRYOUT AND BBQ FUNDRAISER

Culture Complex, Saturday

A BBQ fundraiser in Corpus on the weekend certainly isn’t a unicorn but what they’re accomplishing at Culture Complex just might be. Stop by to support their efforts and if you’ve got kids interested in playing ball, here are the following tryout times and costs:

$10 for each child

Upcoming freshman class of 2025 phase 1 tryout -12:00-1:30)

Upcoming sophomores class of 2024 phase 1 tryout (1:30-3:00)

Upcoming juniors class of 2023 phase 1 tryout (3:00-4:30)

Upcoming seniors class of 2022 phase 1 tryout (4:30-6:00)

BBQ bennie begins at noon until they run out of food.

 

ROCK OUT WITH YOUR PLASTIC GEEETAR

Do you drop the hammer during a Metallica riff like no one’s business? Why don’t you try making it their business and enter the Guitar Hero tournament at Quasars Arcade this Saturday night starting at 9 p.m? Borrow $5 from mom and dad and don’t forget the quarters to cover your entry fee while striking fear into the ears of your foes. Quasars Arcade is located at 5301 Everhart Rd.

Are you a beer enthusiast, then meet up with other local beer enthusiasts. Have a favorite beer you feel is underappreciated or that maybe people just don’t know about. Grab a few bottles or cans and bring them over to the beer share. Chat about what you love about your beer and share that passion with others.
